Cairo, June 29 (SANA) Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit on Monday strongly condemned Israeli attacks and repeated incursions into Syrian territory, the Arab League said in a statement.
Aboul Gheit said the attacks constitute a flagrant violation of Syria’s sovereignty and a blatant breach of international law, according to a statement published on X by the league’s press office.
Gamal Roshdy, the secretary-general’s official spokesman, said Israel’s continued violations threaten to ignite the entire region, expand conflict fronts and undermine efforts to restore security and stability, according to the statement.
Roshdy said the international community cannot accept the “terrorism of force” practiced by Israel, and called on the UN Security Council to assume its responsibility in putting an end to these aggressive practices and compelling Israel to abide by the 1974 Disengagement of Forces Agreement.
On Sunday, Israeli occupation forces entered the village of Abidin in the western Daraa countryside, targeting the village and its surroundings with helicopter machine-gun fire and artillery shells, causing some residents to flee their homes toward neighboring villages.
Syria has strongly condemned the Israeli attacks, stating that their continuation undermines efforts to establish security and stability, exacerbates civilian suffering, and portends further escalation and tension in the region. Damascus has called on the United Nations and the international community to assume their responsibilities, work to halt these violations, and ensure respect for the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.
