The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation confirms the role of UNRWA in light of the international mandate granted to it
The General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation affirmed the political, legal and humanitarian role of the United Nations Relief and Works Organization for Refugees (UNRWA) in protecting and providing relief to Palestinian refugees, including providing humanitarian services in education, health care and social protection to refugees in all their places of presence in the occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, East Jerusalem and refugee camps in the diaspora.
The Secretariat stressed the unity of the Palestinian people in the homeland and the diaspora, and the legal, political and geographic territorial integrity of the occupied State of Palestine in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The General Secretariat reaffirmed the need to respect the role and responsibilities of UNRWA, protect its institutions, and maintain its mandate and mandate granted to it under United Nations General Assembly Resolution No. 302 of 1949 in its five areas of operations, while emphasizing the rejection of any attempts to undermine the vital role of UNRWA, which cannot be reduced, canceled or replaced.
The General Secretariat urged all member states and various international parties and donors to support UNRWA financially, politically, legally and in the media. To enable it to continue providing its services to Palestinian refugees.
