Today, the Mayor of the Capital, Dr. Hammoud Abbad, opened the second phase of the Al-Adhaan grape farm rehabilitation project in the Al-Rawda area of Bani Al-Harith District, which was implemented by the Municipality’s Agricultural and Fisheries Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit.
During the opening, Abbad, along with the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee in the two localities of Amanat Al-Asimah – Deputy Head of the Development Team, Hamoud Al-Naqeeb, and the Secretariat’s Undersecretary for Financial and Administrative Affairs, Mazen Noman, and for the Agriculture Sector, Muhammad Sari’i, were briefed on the project’s components and stages, and the high-quality grape varieties it produces, including rare breeds.
They listened to an explanation from the Executive Director of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit, Abdullah Sharaf Al-Din, about the components of the project, which included the establishment of modern irrigation networks with a length of 1,400 meters, to reduce the cost of water used in irrigation, as well as a solar system at a total cost of 15 million riyals.
During the opening, the Mayor of the Capital stressed the importance of this project in rehabilitating Al-Ahadan Farm, which contains the true origins of a number of grape types, and improving and increasing the abundance of the product.
He pointed out that the Municipality of the Capital aspires during the coming period to produce approximately 200,000 seedlings of grape rootstocks and distribute them to be one of the most prominent manifestations of agricultural production in translation of the directives of the revolutionary and political leadership.
Abbad considered the project to be a tributary of agricultural work in the Municipality of the Capital, praising the efforts of the Agricultural Projects and Initiatives Financing Unit in supporting such projects that benefit the national economy.
The opening was attended by the Chairman of the Cooperative Society of Bani Al-Harith District, Dr. Sadiq Al-Jadmi, and a number of stakeholders.
