Kamalkrishna Dey, Burdwan: Syed Kalimuddin aka Bappa, former block Trinamool (TMC News) president of Raina du block, arrested on charges of hotel attack, extortion, house vandalism and death threats. The accused was produced in Burdwan court on Sunday.
According to police sources, Raju Roy, a resident of Gopalpur village of Madhavadihi police station, lodged a written complaint with Madhavadihi police station on 20 June 2026. In the complaint, he said that on the evening of May 4, 2021, Syed Kalimuddin alias Bappa, Sheikh Halim alias Sheikh Hasim, Abdul Halim and some others entered the hotel and attacked with iron rods and iron rods. They beat him severely and demanded two lakhs of rupees and vandalized various items of the hotel. It is also alleged that the next day the accused forced their way into his house and demanded money again.
The complainant said that when he refused to pay the money, he was strangled and his house was vandalized. It is alleged that apart from taking some cash from the house, they threatened to kill him and his family members if he did not pay more money. Later, he was forced to pay money to the accused after being threatened several times, he alleged. He also said that he was threatened again on the evening of April 2 this year. After that, he was threatened several times. Finally, on June 20, he filed a written complaint at the police station.
Based on the complaint made by Raju Roy, the police of Madhavadihi police station registered a case and arrested Sheikh Kalimuddin alias Bappa. The accused was produced in Burdwan court on Sunday.
