The Panamanian Chamber of Construction (Capac) inaugurated this Thursday, April 16, the twenty-third edition of Expo Housing Capac 2026 at the Panama Convention Center, with an offer of more than 300 housing projects and the participation of the main players in the sector.
The event brings together promoters, banking entities, real estate companies and suppliers of goods and services, in a context in which the construction industry and the real estate market register a moderate performance, influenced by economic conditions and regulatory factors.
During the opening ceremony, the president of the Fair Organizing Committee, Arturo Sáenz, pointed out that one of the main challenges of the sector is to ensure that the supply of housing effectively reaches families, in an environment where access to financing, income levels and credit conditions directly affect demand.
Sáenz indicated that the organization of this edition has required additional efforts to bring together the different market players in the same space, with the aim of facilitating the interaction between promoters, banks and potential buyers.
The fair has the participation of more than 100 promoters who present projects in different areas of the country. According to Capac, this type of events also contributes to the reduction of the housing deficit and the dynamism of the sector in its commercialization stage.
The president of Capac, Irene Orillac de Simone, was not present at the opening ceremony and sent her words through a video message. In his speech, he pointed out that Expo Housing transcends the concept of a commercial showcase and is consolidated as a space where those who design, finance, build and acquire homes converge.
Orillac recognized that the sector has faced a complex period, marked by market contraction, the reduction in the development of new projects and factors such as higher tax burdens and adjustments in the preferential interest regime. However, he highlighted the resilience of the industry and its ability to adapt.
He also made reference to the country’s economic context, pointing out that the organization of public finances, investments in infrastructure and strategic projects in areas such as water, logistics and transportation could influence the reactivation of the construction sector and the generation of employment.
Meanwhile, the first vice president of Capac, Gabriel Diez Montilla, stressed the relevance of the fair as a meeting platform between the different actors in the real estate market.
The event is held in a context marked by the entry into force of the preferential interest law and the participation of mortgage banks, factors that, according to the union, could contribute to boosting the activity and facilitating access to financing.
During the days of the fair, attendees will be able to receive direct advice from promoters and financial guidance from banking entities, in addition to learning about different financing options available.
According to the Organizing Committee, the segment with the highest demand continues to concentrate on homes up to $120,000.
Expo Housing Capac 2026 will be open to the public until Sunday, April 19 and plans to receive more than 10,000 visitors, as well as generate around $80 million in mortgage transactions.
