Ulaanbaatar, April 5,
2026 /MONTSAME/. The European
Investment Bank (EIB) has officially expressed its willingness to finance
projects in Mongolia based on public-private partnerships aimed at integrating
sustainable forest management into socio-economic value chains.
This was
discussed during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate
Change Munkhtamir Batbayar, Ambassador of Mongolia to the Kingdom of Belgium
Bold Luvsanvandan, and a delegation led by Andrew McDowell, EIB Global Director
General.
According to the
Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the sides also agreed to take
concrete steps in the near term to accelerate environmental protection and the
green transition.
In addition,
Mongolia and the European Union have agreed to sign an agreement to formalize
investment and cooperation during the 17th Conference of the Parties to the
United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, with the participation of
stakeholders implementing the Forest Partnership between the two sides.
