The national team beats Canada last game of the preliminary round in Vancouver with 2:1 and is confirmed as group winner. Now they will face Algeria in the round of 16 on July 3rd at 5 a.m. (Swiss time). This game will also take place in Vancouver.
The Swiss national players now have a few days off from playing. That’s reason enough to show how the Nati stars’ loved ones are cheering in the stands. A lot of people are there in the USA and are excited about Gregor Kobel, Manuel Akanji & Co. What is striking is that many people are clearly opting for the traditional red.
What’s particularly nice: The current break now offers the opportunity to see family and friends more often than usual at a big tournament – but only for a few hours at a time.
Kobel recently said: “Of course you miss the family extremely. Especially me, my daughter.” And further: “We were able to meet the family before and after the game. This is super important. But it’s just an hour or two and it’s different than during the season when you see them all year round.”
