In penalties 10 months suspended condemned by the Single-Member Misdemeanor Court three executives of the company Attikis Diadromes for the entrapment of thousands of drivers on Attiki Odos, during the “Hope” bad weather in January 2022.
The three defendants were convicted guilty of misdemeanor disturbing the safety of transportationwhereas the court recognized the mitigating factor of prior cohabitation and rejected the mitigation of genuine remorse, in the sense that they tried to remove the consequences of their actions by giving €2,000 to each stranded driver. In fact, the prosecutor noted in his proposal that it was not an initiative of the company, which made this move because it was obliged by the ministry.
On the contrary, the other three defendants (one from the same company and two from the “Attiki Odos” company) were declared innocent. It is noted that the district attorney, in his proposal, had requested the conviction of four defendants.
Transmission of records
With the same decision, the court adopted the prosecutor’s proposal regarding the transmission of the proceedings of the trial to the Athens District Attorney’s Office, for to further examine the role of specific service actorslike the then director of Attica Traffic and the director of the competent department of Attica Road, on the grounds that the ban on the passage of heavy vehicles should have been decided before the occurrence of the extreme weather phenomena.
