In the statement, released this Friday, Celac expressed its support for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the face of the “devastating earthquakes” that occurred on Wednesday, June 24, and lamented the consequences they left in different regions of Venezuelan territory.
The regional bloc expressed its “deep sorrow for the loss of human life“, conveyed his condolences to the families of the victims and extended his solidarity to the people and families affected by the natural disaster.
Likewise, Celac expressed its “full support“to the tasks of rescue, assistance and recovery that are taking place in the affected areas and pointed out that its Member States are willing to collaborate, both individually and collectively, in everything within their reach.
Finally, the organization stated that it will continue to closely follow the evolution of the humanitarian situation and reiterated its “deepest solidarity” with Venezuelaas well as their willingness to accompany the country during the recovery process.
Uruguay offered help after devastating earthquakes
Before the Celac statement, the president Yamandu Orsi had expressed Uruguay’s solidarity with Venezuela and made available to the government of that country the collaboration it considers necessary. before the emergency.

In the same line, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement in which it noted that Uruguay “closely follows the information emanating from Venezuela regarding the impact caused by the earthquakes, hoping that the rescue tasks for the affected people will be successful”.
The Foreign Ministry also reported that the Consular Section of Uruguay in Venezuela maintains contact with the Uruguayan community residing in that country to verify their health status and distributed an emergency number for compatriots.
“The Uruguayan government places itself at the disposal of the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to support in the ways within its reach in the arduous tasks ahead and reiterates its solidarity with the brotherly Venezuelan people,” the official statement concluded.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, So far there are no Uruguayan citizens among the victims of the earthquakes.
