We tested the new Galaxy A57. The price is bold

    Evaluation

    8 / 10

    Samsung Galaxy A57

    We like:

    stylish design and quality construction

    excellent AMOLED+ display

    6 years of updates

    battery life

    We don’t like:

    average camera

    price

The product was loaned by Samsung for the test

Forget the best and the biggest iPhoneforget about the folding novelties and even the cheapest models. The best-selling smartphones are probably completely different than you think.

For example, the representative of the middle class from Samsung in the form of the Galaxy A5x series has belonged to this category for years. They are not perfect smartphones at all, they don’t even have an amazing camera or extremely fast hardware.

The combination of their design, quality construction and good equipment will always bring them to the top of the sales list in the offer of mobile operators. That’s why we tried the new product called Galaxy A57.

    Excellent design

For several years in a row, Samsung’s effort to move its A series of smartphones into the group of stylish products has been clearly visible.

Despite the changes, the Galaxy A57 has managed to maintain its identity, although honestly, the further it goes, the closer it gets to the Galaxy S series. This time, the novelty is again smaller, thinner and even lighter – in two years it managed to shed up to 34 grams.

It does not suffer structurally, quite the opposite. The combination of durable glass and modified aluminum frame is not only beautiful to look at, but can also protect the smartphone from dust or water.

The degree of protection has been increased from IP67 to IP68, but restrictions still apply to 30-minute submersion to a maximum depth of 1.5 meters. When buying, you can choose from four colors – purple, gray, light blue and dark blue.

In terms of feel, the novelty is a really good smartphone, which is pleasant to hold in the hand and controls even better. The reason is mainly the excellent 6.7-inch Super AMOLED+ display, with which the company returns from PenTile to the classic (better) RGB solution.

Honestly, the difference is really small. The company can rather benefit from a slightly different construction of the panel itself. Color rendering, maximum brightness and dynamic range are all excellent considering the price of a smartphone.

    It has its own chip

The middle class of smartphones from Samsung has never broken performance records, and it is no different in the case of new products. But that doesn’t mean you’ll get your hands on a below-average smartphone.

It is equipped with a modern Exynos 1680 chip, made with 4 nm technology. It has a powerful processor part, Xclipse 550 graphics based on the AMD RDNA 3 architecture, and it also has an improved part for using artificial intelligence directly in the device.

In terms of performance, you will have a decent device in your hands, which also does not overheat at all, even during long-term gaming. Gross performance did not increase significantly between generations, but the graphic part itself is approximately twice as fast compared to the Galaxy A54 model.

The only limit may be the memory configuration, but honestly, if you are not going to actively use AI functions, you can safely get by with eight gigabytes of operating memory.

What has remained the same is the battery capacity and also the charging speed. But the 5000 mAh is enough for a really demanding day without any problems, especially when you have a modern and energy-saving chip in your device. You will only have to wait a little over one hour for a full charge with a high-quality 45-watt charger.

    We missed the telephoto lens

However, it is a great pity that we did not get a refined camera system this year either. Again, the triple solution is present, but in the worst possible combination of the main, wide-angle and macro sensors.

The manufacturer has been offering us this solution for six years, and the last three in a practically unchanged form. Samsung could have easily left out the macro sensor, since its real use is practically zero.

We would accept a telephoto lens instead, which I guess is a matter of course nowadays with such an expensive smartphone. The Galaxy A57 is simply a missed opportunity in this regard, even considering the fact that the photos from the main sensor are great.

They have excellent color rendering, exemplary dynamic range and are sharp. The camera copes with portraits and has no problem when taking pictures at night. The wide-angle camera lags slightly behind the main one, but its output is still very good.

At the same time, you can use various additional AI functions with the camera. The subject eraser is even more accurate in the latest version, and the Best Face feature helps you create perfect group shots. AI will correct closed eyes or even an inappropriate facial expression.

    With a bold price

We have to admit that Samsung has decided on a very bold pricing policy this year, which, by the way, awaits other manufacturers as well. The extreme prices of memory modules make not only gaming computers more expensive for us, but practically any consumer electronics.

Specifically, in the case of the Galaxy A57, the higher price is not so important for a large group of customers, as this type of smartphone breaks records primarily in the offers of mobile operators.

In particular, the previous Galaxy A56 model was by far the best-selling smartphone offered by Orang and Telekom, and previous models from this series were similarly successful.

You will pay 539 euros for the basic memory configuration of 8 + 128 gigabytes, doubling the capacity of the data storage is for an additional fee of 60 euros.

Another configuration is available for our market in the form of a combination of 12 + 512 gigabytes for 789 euros. And the price is already very close to the significantly better model of the last generation, the Galaxy S25.

It will therefore be interesting to see how Samsung will fare in sales outside of carrier offers. There, it has only a slightly different price from its predecessor and is still a great choice for a more demanding customer looking for a branded but still affordable smartphone.

It will offer him everything he needs – from decent performance to stylish design, an excellent display, and exemplary software support for six years.
