A company owned by Guðmund Kristjánsson, managing director of Brim, has bought the Þórsnes fishing boat in Stykkishólmi. This is confirmed by the manager of Þórsness, Eggert Halldórsson in an interview with mbl.is. It was not confirmed which company Guðmundar was in question.
Þórsness staff were informed of the purchase on Friday, but Eggert says that there will be no planned changes to the company’s practices.
“The aim is for unchanged activities in the company,” he says, but between 50 and 60 people work at Þórsnes on an annual basis. Eggert himself will continue to hold the position of managing director.
Bought all the shares
The biggest owner of Þórsness was Gunnlaugur Karl Hreinsson of GPG fiskverkun in Húsavík, but he bought the company in 2004. Eggert has run the company since then, but he himself owned about 15%.
Eggert says that Guðmundur bought the entire share capital, but the purchase includes both fish processing and fishing, ship equipment and fishing permits.
“I’m just happy with this business and optimistic about the future,” concludes Eggert.
