KUWAIT: The interior ministry said Wednesday that traffic and security campaigns conducted nationwide from June 15-21 resulted in 17,467 traffic citations and the impoundment of 359 vehicles and five motorcycles. The traffic and operations affairs sector said its operations room received 2,465 reports during the period and recorded 1,166 traffic accidents, including 175 involving injuries.
Violations included speeding, illegal parking, lane offenses and vehicle-related infractions, reflecting continued efforts to enhance road safety and deter violators. Authorities detained 42 individuals, referred seven juveniles to the relevant bodies and transferred 32 wanted persons to competent authorities.
The ministry said field patrols would continue with increased deployment on major roads and key locations. Separately, emergency police carried out 1,402 security missions across the country to strengthen security, enforce traffic discipline and respond promptly to reports and violations. – KUNA
