More than 1.5 million local and international tourists flooded Kampong Cham province on Wednesday for the second day of Khmer New Year celebrations, authorities said.
The provincial Tourism Department highlighted the “Kampong Cham Sankranta” festival’s showstopper: a 1,200-metre-long, five-tonne spread of sun-dried clams (leas hal).
The city centre alone drew roughly 108,000 people — including 90 foreign visitors — for the record-breaking clam exhibition. District-level events attracted another 107,317, while local resorts added 63,212.
The massive turnout followed an already strong opening day, with over 1 million visitors on Tuesday.
