Muscat: The State Council discussed on Wednesday the “Draft Unified Law on the Management of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture for the Countries of the GCC” and the opinion of the Social and Cultural Committee regarding it.
This took place during the ninth session of the third regular annual sitting of the eighth term, chaired by Sheikh Abdulmalik Abdullah Al Khalili, Chairman of the State Council.
In his speech, the Chairman of the Council stated that the agenda of this session includes the discussion of the aforementioned draft law and the report of the Social and Cultural Committee concerning it, pursuant to the provisions of Article (49) of the Law of the Council of Oman.
He added that the agenda also includes discussing the study submitted by the Economic and Financial Committee on the “Study of the Framework for Developing the Government Performance Management System,” and discussing the study submitted by the Special Committee regarding “Analyzing the Business Environment in the Sultanate of Oman: Practical Steps to Enhance Entrepreneurship.”
Following that, the session discussed the opinion of the Social and Cultural Committee on the “Draft Unified Law on the Management of Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture for the Countries of the GCC.”
The session also discussed the study submitted by the Economic and Financial Committee regarding the “Development of the Government Performance Management System,” which seeks to support the achievement of “Oman Vision 2040,” develop government planning methodology, establish an integrated institutional framework for performance management, enhance spending efficiency, increase productivity, achieve sustainability, and improve the quality of services.
The session discussed the study submitted by the Special Committee on “Analysing the Business Environment in Oman: Practical Steps to Enhance Entrepreneurship.”
This study seeks to examine the current state of the business environment in the Sultanate of Oman across various sectors and institutional sizes, review the main challenges facing enterprises and entrepreneurs, and provide practical, applicable recommendations to improve the business environment and enhance economic competitiveness, in addition to establishing more specialized future studies based on the outcomes of this study.
