The Roca Team has reclaimed the French championship title after defeating Paris Basketball in the decisive fifth game of the Betclic Élite Finals, capping a remarkable season with a fourth major trophy.
Against the odds, Monaco produced a resilient performance in the winner-takes-all showdown in Paris on Tuesday, June 23. The Principality side arrived at the decisive encounter weakened by several absences, including suspended guard Matthew Strazel and injured centre Kevarrius Hayes, who was forced to leave the game almost immediately after tip-off. Long-term absentees Nikola Mirotic and Daniel Theis also remained unavailable.
Despite those setbacks, Monaco found answers throughout the roster, boosted by the surprise return of Mike James, who rejoined the squad shortly before the game.
Paris made the stronger start and quickly established an early advantage, but Monaco responded through the scoring of Elie Okobo, Jaron Blossomgame and Yoan Makoundou to stay within striking distance. The visitors gradually settled into the contest and edged ahead by the end of the opening quarter.

James delivered key baskets after returning from injury, while Tarpey, Blossomgame and Okobo all contributed at crucial moments. Monaco’s defence also stepped up, limiting Paris’ offensive rhythm during the closing stages.
As the clock wound down, clutch baskets from Alpha Diallo and Juhann Begarin helped Monaco establish a decisive lead. From there, the visitors held their nerve to secure victory and spark celebrations among players, staff and travelling supporters.
The championship success marks Monaco’s third French league title and completes a remarkable domestic sweep, with the club also capturing the Leaders Cup, French Cup and French Super Cup during the 2025-26 campaign.
