PETALING JAYA: Tune Talk has officially launched the Epik+ Family Safe plan, which allows parents to filter the content their children can access online.
Unveiled on June 25 as part of Tune Talk’s KasiTune campaign, the Epik+ Family Safe is a RM80 monthly plan for one parent and one child (up to four children) that comes with 700GB of data with an uncapped speed of up to 900Mbps, with no fair usage policies.
The main highlight, however, is an integrated Internet protection feature that the company claims is able to limit access to content deemed unfit for children and youths across all family members included in the plan.
The company’s chief executive officer Gurtaj Singh Padda said at the launch that the mobile plan is “built for parents who want visibility without fear, built for children who deserve a safer digital space”.
Parents can access the feature through the Tune Talk mobile application under the parental control section, where they can choose from three different levels of protection:
- Low Protection: Allows general browsing and social media access but blocks adult content and known unsafe websites.
- Medium Protection: Blocks social media platforms and uncategorised websites but permits access to emails and other general web browsing.
- High Protection: Provides the highest level of restriction, with Internet access restricted entirely to trusted, kid-friendly portals such as educational or government sites.
To note, the company highlights that the Epik+ Family Safe plan is not a separate application that needs to be installed directly onto the child’s phone.
Instead, it says the control for content access is managed directly at a network level.
The Epik+ Family Safe plan also offers unlimited calls to all networks and other features such as personal accident insurance and e-roaming capabilities.
Additionally, Tune Talk is also offering the Epik+ 35 plan priced at RM35 per month and the Epik+ 50 plan at RM50 per month, offering 200GB and 500GB of mobile data respectively. However, the integrated Internet protection feature is not included in these two plans.
