Commitment to Islamic etiquette and public taste in youth summer clothing

Summer is characterized by extreme heat, and under the heat, some people loosen their clothes in public places, especially in coastal areas near the beaches. They walk on the roads and ride public transportation in shorts (shorts). There is no doubt that this is forbidden. Because the thigh is private, as Abd al-Rahman bin Jarhad narrated, saying: Jarhad, may God be pleased with him, was one of the Companions of the Suffah. He said: The Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace, sat with us while my thighs were exposed, and he said: “Did you not know that the thigh is private?” The thigh should be covered, even for adult children.

Dress is one of the permissible adornments, in which every Muslim must be moderate and moderate. It is not appropriate for a Muslim who has been blessed by God Almighty with the ability to buy a good, clean garment to wear poor, torn or patched clothing, just as it is not appropriate for him to acquire expensive and exaggerated clothing, because that involves extravagance and imagination, and breaks the hearts of the poor. Our Lord, Blessed and Most High, says: {And those who, when they spend, are neither extravagant nor stingy, and there is a measure between that.} Al-Bukhari said in his Sahih: And the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, said: “Eat and drink, and wear clothing, and give in charity, without extravagance or imagination.”
One of the most important legal terms and conditions for clothing: covering the private parts. It is obligatory to cover the area between the navel to the knee in all circumstances, and not to be transparent or tight, meaning that the dress should not be transparent that describes the color of the skin, nor be tight that defines the body’s charms. Taking into account the prohibition of isbaal, and staying away from imitation; That is, it should not resemble women’s clothing, should not be specific to people of other religions, and the necessity of respecting the general taste of the society to which we belong.

Public taste in men’s clothing means adherence to a modest, clean, and decent appearance that respects the culture and values of society, and is consistent with public morals in places. This commitment reflects the man’s respectable character and prevents any appearance that might arouse resentment or offend his modesty.
In light of Algerian society’s adherence to its cultural and religious values, discussions are renewed about how to balance the freedom of the individual to choose his appearance and the preservation of public taste and societal values.

The presence of reasonable and disciplined controls preserves public taste and enhances adherence to religious customs and values without extremism, because neglecting them may lead to the deterioration of public taste and the creation of cultural gaps between generations, and because the issue affects national identity.

And here is a man from the Companions asking our Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, saying: O Messenger of God, what of our private parts do we cover and what do we leave behind? He said: “Guard your private parts except from your wife or what your right hand owns.” He said: I said: O Messenger of God, if people are with one another? He said: “If you can prevent anyone from seeing it, then let them not see it.” The majority of jurists have stated that a man’s private parts are between the navel and the knee, as he, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “What is between the navel and the knee is private.” Imam Al-Nafrawi Al-Maliki says: “This implies that the thigh of a man is awrah, so it must be covered and it is forbidden for him to uncover it or look at it.” The thigh remains awrah in our law. The saying of our Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace: “What is between the navel and the knee is awrah” does not mean that it is permissible for a man to expose his chest in front of men, let alone show it in front of women; This is a breach of chivalry, an act of immorality, and a cause of strife. Perhaps this matter increases in the summer, to the point that you find someone who makes his personal picture on social media in that unsatisfactory form, or puts it in a publication for the public despite its privacy. He did not know that by doing so, he might enter into the saying of God Almighty: {Indeed, those who tempt believing men and believing women and then do not repent – for them will be the torment of Hell}, and this verse is confirmed against him if he sends it via It is private for a girl or a young man with the intention of sedition and overthrowing him or her. Many people have been lenient and negligent in exposing their private parts, and were even keen to show them.

One of the wonders of this time is that some of our young men and sons deliberately lowered their pants from the waist in order to reveal some of the body and perhaps some of their private parts, or to reveal the underwear at best! In a reprehensible form that calls for temptation, and a reprehensible image that calls for vice, Satan made their bad deeds appear to them, so they saw dropping one’s trousers as a modern fashion, but in reality it was an intellectual chaos and a moral setback, in which they followed the ways of the infidels, imitated the ways of the ungodly, and abandoned the guidance of the chosen Prophet, who said, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him: “Whoever imitates a people is one of them.”
