Glass fell from the facade of the tallest skyscraper in the EU onto the street. The building is owned by a Slovak company – Svet – Správy

On Monday night, a part of the facade glass came loose from the Varso Tower in the center of Warsaw (the tallest skyscraper in the EU) and fell onto the street, damaging a parked car. No one was injured in the incident. TVN drew attention to the case, reports the Warsaw correspondent TASR.

The police received a report about the incident after four o’clock in the morning. The glass infill disintegrated and parts of it fell on the pavement and the road, while one car was damaged.

The building manager said that one of the facade panels on the 28th floor was damaged. The space below the incident site was immediately closed and height workers were called to the site, who secured the damaged part of the facade.

According to the owner of the building, the company HB Reavis, which was founded in Slovakia, it was a rare case caused by the so-called spontaneous bursting of tempered glass. However, a similar incident happened in the building in September last year. That’s when a glass panel broke on the 11th floor and landed on the cafe’s terrace. Even then, no one was injured.

Varso Tower with a height of 310 meters is the tallest building in the European Union. The skyscraper was completed in 2022 and houses administrative spaces, a restaurant and a viewing terrace.
