Grandma Mimithe oldest chimpanzee in the Skopje zoo, knows how to fill his time with a variety of activities.
In the video that the Zoo in Skopje shared on its Facebook profile, we can see how grandma Mimi enjoys folding blankets in her home.
She takes care of the space in which she spends her time every day and arranges the blankets and quilts with great care, in order to create her own comfortable place for relaxation.
– Grandma Mimi, our oldest chimpanzee in Skopje ZOO, in addition to loving to carefully smell flowers, has another favorite pastime, arranging her corner for rest. She arranges her blankets and quilts with great care, arranges them exactly as it suits her and creates her own warm and comfortable place for relaxation according to her measurements. If you have blankets at home that you don’t need, you can always bring them as a gift for our Mimushka – writes in the announcement of the zoo.
Although Mimi is in her retirement days, she does not miss doing what gives her rest and pleasure.
By the way, as they say from the Skopje zoo, Mimi was born in 1962. She was taken from the wild, and then lived and performed in a circus. When she could no longer perform due to health reasons, she was sold to a woman in Germany who owned a flower shop. It was from that period that her special love for flowers and plants remained.
Later, Mimi was kept in private conditions. In late 2014, she was rescued along with another chimpanzee and transferred to a specialized center in the Netherlands, where she had veterinary care, security and time to recover.
After the rehabilitation period, in July 2019 Mimi arrived at the Skopje zoo, and currently she is one of the oldest chimpanzees in the world.
