    Politics

    — Vietnam and Palestine on Friday held a ceremony in Hanoi to posthumously award the Grand Collar Medal of the State of Palestine to General Vo Nguyen Giap, recognizing his enduring contributions to national liberation movements and his steadfast support for the Palestinian cause.

    Economy

    — Hoa Phat Dung Quat Steel JSC has successfully produced S700MC high-strength structural steel in compliance with the European BS EN 10149 standard, becoming the first manufacturer in Vietnam to master production of this specialized steel grade.

    — Omoda & Jaecoo Vietnam has officially launched the Omoda C5 Sport, priced from VND559 million ($21,240), expanding the Omoda C5 lineup in the Vietnamese market.

    Education

    — More than 1,000 military officers and soldiers are stationed along border areas, accelerating the construction of 18 boarding schools across the central and Central Highlands regions, with completion scheduled before August 20.

    — More than 2,000 children from 34 provinces and cities gathered in Da Lat in the Central Highlands region’s Lam Dong Province on Friday night for the opening ceremony of the 2026 National Children’s Festival, which is being held for the first time.

    Sports

    — The United States advanced to the World Cup knockout stage with a dominant performance against Australia on Friday, an early own goal and an Alex Freeman header giving the co-hosts a comfortable 2-0 win despite missing talisman Christian Pulisic, Reuters reported.

    — Morocco beat Scotland 1-0 in Group C of the World Cup on Friday with Ismael Saibari scoring his second goal ‌in as many games after 71 seconds, leaving the North Africans well placed to advance into the round of 32, according to Reuters.
