According to Ekhtaz Online, the explanation of Ismail Beqaei, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is as follows:
We are going to have a one-day meeting. In the morning, we will have bilateral meetings with the delegations of Pakistan and Qatar as mediators of this process.
In the afternoon, quadrilateral meetings between the delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States will be held with the presence of the representatives of Qatar and Pakistan.
Today, Sunday, as you know, we are going to have a one-day meeting. The plan is that in the morning we will have bilateral meetings with the delegations of Pakistan and Qatar as mediators, and in the afternoon a quadrilateral meeting will be held between the delegations of Iran, America, Qatar and Pakistan.
We signed this document on June 28, and from the very first moments we had the follow-up on the agenda. Execution of any document is more important than signing. That is, the diplomatic process to reach the result is a discussion, and the most important discussion is the follow-up of the implementation.
This meeting shows Iran’s seriousness in demanding and following up on the obligations of the other side. We had no intention of signing a document and expecting it to be automatically executed by the other party.
We never forget our previous experiences. With this mentality, this meeting is focused on following the implementation of the agreement.
Clause 13 of the memorandum of understanding is very clear; In this sense, the start of negotiations for the final agreement is conditional on five specific clauses, including clause one of the memorandum of understanding, which oversees the cessation of war on all fronts, including Lebanon.
We know that this clause has not been implemented and that America could not or did not want to. The Zionist regime continues to violate the commitment. This issue is the main topic of discussion in today’s talks.
