He Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mescyt), Rafael Santos Badía began a process of coordination with actors in the health sector to strengthen training in priority medical specialties, given the growing demands of the health system and changes in the epidemiological profile of Dominican Republic.
As part of this initiative, the minister held a meeting with the neurosurgeon José Joaquín Puello, president of the Health City, doctor Luis Eduardo Aybar, one of the main hospital complexes in the country.
During the meeting, both authorities agreed on the need to align medical training with the real demands of the health system, given the existing gaps in several specialties.
For his part, Puello highlighted the importance of integrating the academic training with medical practice. “Medicine and education must advance together to respond effectively to current and future challenges,” he stated.
He also stressed the need to establish permanent spaces for analysis and planning that allow projecting the development of the health sector in the medium and long term.
