Experts in human resources, economics, and academics confirmed to Emirates Today that practical experience, specialized skills, and professional certificates are now competing strongly with university qualifications in many jobs of the future, with an accelerating shift in global employment standards from focusing on certification, to focusing on competence and ability to achieve. He stressed that many employers are no longer satisfied with the academic qualification alone, but rather look at accredited professional certificates, practical experience, and applied skills as complementary elements that enhance the candidate’s readiness and ability to keep pace with the changing requirements of the labor market. He stressed that despite these changes, the university degree will remain a basic requirement in many regulated professions, such as medicine, engineering, judiciary, and education.
