Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar will be out of the country until Wednesday to attend the funeral of a family member overseas.
The Office of the Prime Minister made the announcement in a statement on Saturday but did not disclose the destination or identify the deceased family member.
During Persad-Bissessar’s absence, Minister of Works and Infrastructure Jearlean John will serve as Acting Prime Minister.
The Prime Minister is expected to resume official duties upon her return on Wednesday, June 24.
