The Mako Aquatics Club dominated the meet it hosted over the weekend, easily winning the 6th Annual Oak Tree Medical & Mako Invitational, at the Betty Kelly-Kenning National Swim Complex.
The host club finished with 1,868.50 points, significantly ahead of the second-place finisher. The Blue Waves Swim Club totaled 1,241 points for second, and the Barracuda Swim Club was a distant third with 651 points.
In the medal standings, Mako totaled 160 medals — 73 gold, 44 silver and 43 bronze. The Blue Waves finished with 94 total medals — 25 gold, 39 silver and 30 bronze. The Lyford Cay Swim Club finished third in the medal standings with 15 gold, 10 silver and eight bronze for 33 total medals.
In the 8-and-under girls category, Nya Ferguson, of Mako Aquatics, was the top performer with 58 points. Blue Waves teammates Payton Bostwick and Charlotte King finished second and third with scores of 51 and 44.50 points respectively.
Mason Sadowski, of the Lyford Cay Swim Club, was the top athlete in the 8-and-under boys category. He finished with 54 points. Gevon Moss, of the Blue Waves, finished second with 51 points; and Kellan Bastian, of Mako Aquatics, was third with 28 points.
Shiloh Ferguson, of the Barracuda Swim Club, won the 9-10 girls category. She finished with 53 points. Anthonique Rolle, of the Blue Waves, was second with 49 points. Skyrah Chambers, representing Mako Aquatics, was third with 46 points.
In the 9-10 boys category, Mako’s Mason Hanna came out on top with 59 points. Randol Dorsett, of the Barracuda Swim Club, finished second with 50 points, and there was a tie for third between Mako athletes Lynden Feaste and Avyn Mckenzie, both with 42 points.
Isabella Munroe, of Mako Aquatics, was the top performer in the 11-12 girls category. She finished with 59 points. Katelin-Dahlia Hanna, of the Barracuda Swim Club, finished second with 41 points; and Mako’s Hannah Astwood was third with 39 points.
In the 11-12 boys category, Breon Stuart, of Mako Aquatics, won with 56 points. The Blue Waves’ Dylan Musgrove was second with 53 points. There was a tie for third between Asher Bastian, of the Mantas Swim & Water Polo Club, and Fraser Menzies, of the Lyford Cay Swim Club, both with 49 points.
In the 13-14 girls category, Mako teammates Tiah Seymour and Gillian Albury finished first and second with 56 and 53 points respectively. Reniyah Rolle, of the Barracuda Swim Club, was third with 44 points.
In the 13-14 boys category, the Blue Waves’ Christon Joseph won with 54 points. Mako teammates Kai Bastian and Benicio Robinson finished second and third with 44 and 43 points respectively.
Saleste Gibson, of Mako Aquatics, was the top performer in the 15-and-over girls category, scoring 61 points. Her club teammate Madison Gilbert finished second with 47 points, and DnDn McKenzie, also of Mako Aquatics, was third with 46 points.
Finally, in the 15-and-over boys category, the Blue Waves’ Dijon Simmons won with 42 points. Michael Fox, of Mako Aquatics, finished second with 40 points, and Jaden Mills, swimming unattached, came in third with 38 points.
The 6th Annual Oak Tree Medical & Mako Invitational was the final local club swim meet of the season.
Next up on the local swim calendar is the 54th Annual Bahamas National Swimming Championships, set for June 25-28 at the Betty Kelly-Kenning National Swim Complex.
