THE Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz reportedly ordered the military to “avoid the use of fire” in Lebanon, according to a Channel 12 report.
According to the same instrument, this development reportedly came about in consultation with the United States.
However, according to a “senior official” of the Prime Minister’s office, Israel will remain in southern Lebanon “as long as necessary to defend its northern border.”
The unnamed official says Netanyahu “ordered the IDF to respond to any attack by Hezbollah and take action to neutralize threats against our forces.”
As he warned, “if Hezbollah attacks us again, we will hit them hard once again.”
Hezbollah and Israel continued to trade accusations today over which side was responsible for violating the cease-fire they announced on Friday, as Israeli strikes continued in southern and eastern Lebanon, killing dozens of people since Friday.
It is recalled that earlier Iran re-announced the closure of the Straits of Hormuz in response to Israel’s violation of the ceasefire and continued attacks on southern Lebanon.
