A 25-year-old man from Maloney Gardens was murdered shortly after visiting the community’s police station on Friday evening.
Jamal Sheppard was walking to his home on Gull Terrace, Maloney Gardens, after reporting to the police station as part of his bail conditions when he was attacked around 6.50 pm.
A white car stopped near him and two men got out and began shooting at him.
Sheppard attempted to escape by scaling a wall, but the gunmen followed him and shot him several times before returning to the waiting vehicle.
He died at the scene.
Shortly before the shooting, Sheppard reportedly stopped to talk to a woman he knew and told her that he believed he was being followed when he left the station.
Investigations into Sheppard’s murder are continuing.
