    Saudi Arabia wins 6 international medals at the Balkan Junior Mathematical Olympiad 2026 in Romania – Saudi News


    The Saudi female mathematics team won 6 international medals in the 30th edition of the Balkan Junior Mathematics Olympiad (JBMO 2026), which was hosted by Romania during the period from 15 to 20 June, with the participation of 140 male and female students representing 23 countries.

    The students were able to win a gold medal, two silver medals, and three bronze medals. Student Hussein Abdullah Al Omran from the General Administration of Education in the Eastern Province won the gold medal, while two silver medals were won by student Faris Muhammad Al-Kanhal from the General Administration of Education in the Riyadh Region, and student Anwar Hossam Ghoneim from the General Administration of Education in the Tabuk Region.

    Bronze medals were won by student Jawad Muhammad Al-Nasser from the General Administration of Education in Al-Ahsa Governorate, student Mumil Siraj Al-Sihati from the General Administration of Education in the Eastern Province, and student Mohsen Maher Khan from the General Administration of Education in Jeddah Governorate.

    With this result, the Kingdom’s balance in the Balkan Junior Mathematics Olympiad rose to 75 international medals, distributed among 12 gold medals, 28 silver medals, and 35 bronze medals, since the beginning of its participation in the Olympics, represented by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity “Mawhiba,” and in a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Education.

    This achievement came after an intensive scientific qualification trip that the students underwent as part of the Mawhiba Program for the International Olympics, which included multiple stages of specialized training, qualifying camps, and advanced scientific tests. With the aim of developing their mathematical abilities, refining their skills in solving complex problems, and enabling them to compete at the highest international levels.

    The Balkan Junior Mathematics Olympiad is an annual international scientific competition dedicated to gifted students in mathematics who are as young as 15.6 years old, and represents one of the most prominent global competitions in this field, as participants compete in solving high-level mathematical problems that require advanced skills in logical thinking, analysis, and mathematical creativity.

    It is noteworthy that the Kingdom participated this year for the fourteenth time in the Olympiad, and continues to achieve a distinguished presence that reflects the quality of programs for discovering and nurturing gifted people, and enhances its position in international scientific forums, in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in building a generation that competes internationally in science and mathematics.

    The students managed to win one gold medal, two silver medals, and three bronze medals.
