
MANILA, Philippines — Another aftershock of the June 9 magnitude 7.8 earthquake in Mindanao jolted Sarangani on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Philippine Institute of Seismology and Volcanology (Phivolcs).
According to Phivolcs, the aftershock was recorded at magnitude 4.6 and occurred at exactly 4:03 p.m.
Its epicenter was located 50 kilometers southwest of Balut Island, Sarangani, and was tectonic in origin, with a depth of focus of 25 kilometers.

Phivolcs said Intensity IV was recorded in Kiamba and Maasim, Sarangani; Intensity III in General Santos City; Intensity II in Malapatan, Sarangani; and Intensity I in Tampakan, South Cotabato, and the cities of Tacurong and Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat.
Meanwhile, the following instrumental intensities were also logged:
Intensity III — General Santos City; Kiamba and Maasim, Sarangani
Intensity II — Maitum and Malapatan, Sarangani; T’boli, South Cotabato
Intensity I — Malungon, Sarangani; Kidapawan City and Surallah, South Cotabato; Bagumbayan, Sultan Kudarat
Phivolcs said no damage is expected to be caused by the quake and no aftershocks are expected. /mcm
