Nemrut Caldera, at an altitude of 2,250 meters, which received the “Excellence” award within the scope of European Distinguished Destinations, was flooded with visitors with the opening of the summer season. The region, which stands out with its hot and cold lakes, ice caves, steam chimneys and natural beauties, hosted hundreds of local and foreign nature lovers throughout the weekend.

Zeynep Küçükoğuz, who came to the region from Çanakkale as part of a tour, stated that she was very impressed by the nature of Nemrut Caldera and advised everyone to see these beauties. Mahir Uğurel, who came from Istanbul, stated that Tatvan, Ahlat, Adilcevaz, Süphan Mountain and Lake Van form a magnificent integrity and that the region should definitely be seen. Şırnak University Faculty Member Ahmet Özdemir emphasized that the crater lake, which he visited with his family, is a world heritage that should be protected and invited everyone to be more sensitive towards the values of the region.

Nemrut Caldera attracts great attention from local visitors as well as foreign tourist groups. Professional tour guide Zübeyir Ayaz, who visited the region with his French tourist group, stated that their group entered Türkiye through the Aktaş Border Gate after their tour of Georgia. Ayaz stated that Nemrut Caldera, one of the largest crater lakes in the world, is an extremely special place with its view and is one of the best examples of the country’s richness of natural beauty. Welcoming visitors in four seasons, the caldera continues to be one of the most important destinations of Bitlis tourism with its increasing density in the summer months.
