“Last year at this time I was attacked, robbed and beaten by migrants from Algeria. It was a very traumatic experience that did not make me hate,” she says.
She points out that, as a member of the Committee for Migration, Refugees and Displaced Persons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and president of the Subcommittee for International Protection, Integration and Support for Vulnerable Persons, she advocates for a dignified life and respect for the rights of migrants.
“This is not just a political issue for me. A traumatic personal experience made me devote myself even more to the issue of migration, looking for a balance between humanity, security and a responsible migration policy. My obligation is to first protect the safety of the citizens of my country,” she added.
