Ministry of Tourism Minister Huot Hak will lead a Cambodian delegation to the Mekong Tourism Forum 2026 and related programmes from June 14 to 17 in Yangon, Myanmar, according to an official announcement.
Organised by the Myanmar Ministry of Hotels, Tourism and Culture under the theme “Tourism for People, Travel with Purpose,” the forum will bring together stakeholders to strengthen regional cooperation and promote sustainable tourism across the Greater Mekong Subregion, with a focus on people-centred livelihoods.
The Mekong Tourism Forum coordinator invited Minister Hak as a guest of honour to deliver special remarks at the opening ceremony.
On the sidelines, Minister Hak will attend the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation between Cambodia and Myanmar to expand bilateral ties. The visit includes participating in the Cambodia-Myanmar Tourism Promotion Roadshow to market regional travel and establish a shared business network.
Additionally, Minister Hak is scheduled to hold courtesy meetings and bilateral discussions with Myanmar leaders to encourage greater tourist flows between both nations.
This initiative to boost regional ties aligns directly with official ministry goals to restore post-pandemic travel networks.
Observers note that high-level ministerial engagement remains crucial for expanding cross-border aviation and simplifying visa processes within the subregion. AKP
