The opening of Suburban Train that will connect Buenavista with the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) is getting closer. This was reported by the general director of the Trains and Integrated Public Transport Agency, Andres Lajouwho through his social networks said that the project is in its final phaseafter months of delays due to security testing and pending certifications.
“With teams from @TrenesMX, @SICTmx, @Suburbanos, @Defensamx1, @Banobras_mx and companies, we took a tour aboard the train from Buenavista to @aifaaero where we reviewed each station on the Lechería-#AIFA branch“, wrote.
Although there is still no official confirmed date, the authorities have pointed out that the opening could be announced in the coming days.
Initially, the plan contemplated that he service would begin operations during first quarter of 2026. However, the process of road certification and the security testing They pushed back the schedule.

At the end of March, the president Claudia Sheinbaum explained that the project was still waiting for the certification necessary to guarantee operations safe, which postponed its inauguration for a few weeks.
One of the main attractions of the new branch is the transfer time. It is estimated that the entire route will take approximately 43 minuteswhich represents a quick alternative to other means of transport towards the airport.
In addition, the service will start with a frequency of 10 trains every 15 minutes, operating from 05:00 until 00:30 hours.

The new section will have an extension of 23.7 kilometers and will include six seasons intermediate plus the terminal at the airport. The stations contemplated are:
- Cueyamil
- La Loma (formerly Los Agaves)
- Teyahualco
- South Meadows
- Cajiga (formerly Nextlalpan)
- Xaltocan
- AIFA Terminal

The railway connection between Buenavista and the AIFA seeks to improve mobility towards the airport, reduce transfer times and offer a more efficient alternative to vehicular traffic.
The project will directly impact municipalities such as Tultitlán, Tultepec, Nextlalpan, Xaltocan and Zumpangoin addition to strengthening the integration of the transportation system in the metropolitan area.
With the inauguration getting closer, it is also expected that key details such as rates, payment methods and complete operation of the service will be announced shortly.
