Over 4,800 passengers used the route last summer season 2025. This summer season, United flies until September 23, with a direct connection between Nuuk and Newark/New York.
While SAS has cancelled its departures to Nuuk from Copenhagen this year, returns United Airlines back to Nuuk this summer. The first flight already took off on Saturday 6 June.
The company confirms that the route will be flown twice weekly until 23 September.
It has only been a year since the route was opened, but already United Airlines highlights that more than 4,800 passengers have used the connection on 58 flights since its launch in 2025.
A direct connection between Greenland and the USA
United Airlines is still the only American airline with a direct route between Greenland and the USA. The route connects Nuuk with the company’s large transatlantic hub i Newark Liberty International Airportwhich provides access to onward connections to more than 80 destinations in North and South America.
– We are happy to return to Nuuk in the summer season, says Amit Badiani, head of Africa and offline sales in Europe at United Airlines.
Also Greenland Airports looks positively on the resumption of the route. The company’s commercial director, René Von Ahm Laursen, calls the collaboration strong and points out that the connection is helping to increase interest in Greenland as a travel destination.
