Tablets are taken whole before meals
Medicine contains acetylsalicylic acid. In lower doses, it helps prevent the formation of blood clots and reduces the risk of clogging arteries. Clogged arteries can lead to serious health problems, such as a heart attack or stroke.
It is used in adult patients with unstable angina pectoris, acute myocardial infarction, to prevent another heart attack, but also after operations or procedures on arteries. A doctor may also recommend it to patients who have experienced a transient ischemic attack to reduce the risk of cerebral infarction.
The medicine is not intended for the treatment of pain. It is used long-term and the length of treatment is decided by the doctor. Tablets should be swallowed whole with water, preferably at least 30 minutes before a meal. Since these are gastro-resistant tablets, they should not be crushed, broken or bitten.
However, an exception applies if an acute heart attack is suspected. The first tablet should be crushed or chewed and swallowed so that the medicine is absorbed more quickly.
It is not recommended to drink alcohol during use. The drug is not suitable for children under 18 years of age, and caution is also required in patients with liver or kidney problems, stomach ulcers or an increased risk of bleeding. Pregnant and lactating women should always consult a doctor about use.
