Yesterday’s protest in Tirana took an unusual turn, as the crowd of protesters moved from the center of the capital to the Tirana-Durra highway and then to the axis leading to Rinas. The march, which lasted about five hours, caused long traffic jams and minor tensions with police forces near the airport road. The sudden movement of the protesters has evoked different reactions and has raised questions about the way the route was organized.
In protests of this nature, the choice of the direction of the march is considered essential, as it directly affects the public and political impact of the gathering, but also the stability of the participants.
The organizers have raised doubts about the presence of people infiltrating the crowd, who, according to them, may have directed the protesters towards Rinas. Some participants claim that they were led by unidentified persons, with the aim of tiring them out, gradually dispersing the protest and then venting the revolt
According to the data, at around 00:26 after midnight, the protesters arrived at the Rinas overpass and then continued towards the airport area, where they stayed until 02:00 in the morning. Meanwhile, the police forces set up a security cordon to prevent protesters from approaching the “Mother Teresa” airport. The authorities called on citizens not to block the road, calling it an illegal action. After a few minutes of resistance, the protesters withdrew, while the whole event ended without serious incidents or physical clashes between the police and citizens.
The chaotic posts on the network are confusing the citizens, someone is controlling the protest
Posts continue to be made on social networks that cause confusion among citizens. Today, several posts were distributed on Instagram announcing that the march will continue again towards the Tirana-Durra highway and the Rinas airport.
However, the organizers of the gatherings deny these announcements and declare that the official itinerary does not foresee walking outside Tirana, but only within the Great Ring.
It remains to be seen who will command today’s protest, but it is certain that someone is controlling the crowd and is abusing it with the clear intention of disrupting and dispersing the citizens.
