The Iranian Football Federation (FFI) reported this Tuesday, June 9, that the United States has revoked the regulatory tickets for Iranian fans for the 2026 World Cup, which starts this Thursday.
“Less than three days before the start of the 2026 World Cup, it is regrettable that, in a continuation of a series of decisions and actions by people outside the usual sports agents on the part of the host country, the United States has this time attempted to prevent the presence of Iranian fans in the stadium that will host the three group stage games”indicates a statement.
The FFI recalls that FIFA rules stipulate that 8% of the stadium’s capacity for each game is sold by participating federations, with the Iranian federation revealing that it has started selling these tickets through its official website.
“In an unexpected measure, the allocation allocated to the Iranian Football Federation was revoked and, under the current circumstances, it is not possible to provide even an entry to the national team’s fans through the federation”denounced the FFI, which called on FIFA to intervene, as it understands that this is “a measure that goes against the spirit of the competition and against the principle of equality between the participating nations”.
The Iran national team set up its headquarters in Mexico and not in the United States, contrary to what was initially planned, and 15 players and several members of the technical team and managers still do not have visas.
Remember that the 2026 World Cup will take place in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The Iranian team has games scheduled for Los Angeles (against New Zealand on June 16th and Belgium on the 21st) and Seattle (against Egypt, on the 27th), on North American soil.
Remember that the two countries have been at war since the United States and Israel began attacking Iran on February 28.
