A public hearing of the Defense and Security Commission dedicated to the Draft Law on Weapons was held today in the Parliament, which provides for the regulation of the conditions for the acquisition, possession, carrying and transfer, storage, production, repair, disabling (deactivation), sale, brokerage, transfer, transportation and transfer across the state border of weapons, their parts and ammunition, reported MIA.

MP Brane Petrushevski, in the opening address, emphasized that the proposed legal solution is in line with the relevant legislation of the European Union and represents a step towards further improvement of the national legal framework in this area.

    – The proposed legal solution is in line with the relevant legislation of the European Union and represents a step towards further improvement of the national legal framework in this area – said Petrushevski.

Before the members of the Commission and the representatives of the concerned organizations, the Assistant Minister of Internal Affairs, Jovan Altanjiev, explained the draft law, who emphasized the importance of its adoption and the benefits expected from the application of the new legal solution.

    – It is necessary to adopt a modern and efficient legal solution, and its final form should be reached through a broad and inclusive debate, in order to successfully implement the law in practice – pointed out Altanjiev.

As the parliamentary press service announced, after the introductory speeches, representatives of institutions and organizations presented their opinions, proposals and remarks, aimed at further improving the text of the draft law.

At the end of the debate, Petrushevski thanked those present for the constructive contribution and emphasized that all proposals will be taken into account in the further procedure.

    – Shorthand notes will be prepared from the public discussion, which will serve as a basis in the further process of finishing and perfecting the final text of the Law – Petrushevski said.

The new legal solution should enable a more efficient regulation of the area of weapons, in accordance with European standards and modern security challenges.
