While the Iranian Fars Agency ruled out signing the agreement with the United States today, US President Donald Trump, today (Sunday), held Israel responsible for delaying the signing after it attacked Beirut this morning.
Trump wrote on his “Truth Social” platform: “This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, especially on a special day in which we are very close to concluding a peace agreement with Iran.”
Trump defended the Israeli attack by saying: “Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack to which it was responding was very small and insignificant, and no one was harmed, injured, or killed because of it, and it should not disrupt this important operation.”
He added: “We are very close to an agreement that will bring peace to the region, including Lebanon, and all parties must step back and calm down.”
Trump called on Israel and Hezbollah to stop the attacks, saying: “There should not be any further attacks by Israel anywhere inside Lebanon, and there should not be any further attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel.”
Trump warned Hezbollah and Israel not to spoil peace efforts, saying: “This may be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace, so do not spoil it!”
On the other hand, the Iranian Fars Agency reported that an agreement would not be signed with the United States today (Sunday), explaining that Tehran sent its demands to Washington through a Qatari team, and a final agreement has not been reached yet.
The US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, said earlier today that President Donald Trump is still determined to sign the initial framework for a peace agreement with Iran today.
