The police have completed the investigation of a case in which a 29-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman in Košice were supposed to restrict a woman’s personal freedom without authorization and force her to transfer real estate under the threat of violence. According to the police, they caused damage to the victim in the amount of 576,000 euros. The investigator processed the proposal for filing an indictment. TASR was informed about this by the spokeswoman of the Regional Directorate of the Police (KR PZ) in Košice, Lenka Ivanová.
As she said, two persons with whom the woman communicated in person and by phone during her mother’s life regarding the ordering and distribution of food contacted her even after her mother’s death. “In December of last year, persons visited the survivor in one of the apartments in Košice, into which she trustingly let them in. They imprisoned the woman in the apartment, took her keys to the front door, locked them, and thus made it impossible for her to leave the apartment and call for help. They gave her a drug that deliberately put her in a state of reduced mental alertness, sleep and absolute defenselessness, and thus completely isolated her from the outside environment. In a state of defenselessness and reduced ability to make free decisions exerted psychological pressure on her, they repeatedly and emphatically threatened to physically kill her only relative and combined their threats of violence with lies about his death,” Ivanova explained.
The woman, in a state of induced error, fear for the life of a close person and defenselessness, signed according to Ivan’s contract, in which the injured woman appeared as the donor and one of the persons as the donee, and with which she transferred ownership rights to her own real estate, namely three apartments and two garages, free of charge. “In such a deceitful and inhumane way, the persons secured free housing for themselves and caused a total of 576,000 euros of damage to the grieving woman,” said the police spokeswoman.
Since the victim was an elderly person and the perpetrators acted in an extremely sophisticated manner, the clarification of this act, according to the regional police spokeswoman, also required an extraordinary effort on the part of PZ. “The result was the indictment of two persons, a 29-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, who unlawfully deprived the surviving person of her personal liberty and, under the threat of violence, forced her to act in a manner determined by them, for the crime of deprivation of personal liberty in a single-act and homogeneous parallel with the particularly serious crime of extortion, both acts committed as an accomplice,” explained Ivanova.
At the same time, the Košice regional police investigator processed a motion to submit a motion to take them into custody, which the judge accepted. These days, the investigation was completed with the processing of the proposal for filing an indictment.
In this context, the police appeal to people not to forget their loved ones, to warn them against the unfair practices of fraudsters and to talk to them about the traps that lie in wait for them.
