He began his speech by wishing health and freedom to Vardan Ghukasyan and, in his words, to all political prisoners.
Avetis Arakelyan presented Vardan Ghukasyan’s pre-election program consisting of 31 points, where the vision of the development of Gyumri is laid out and detailed point by point what was implemented and what was not.
While presenting the report, Avetis Arakelyan sometimes criticized the government.
Speaking about the economic recovery of Gyumri, he said that according to the plan, Gyumri will be completely transformed from the traces of disaster and unemployment, and for this purpose, several large factories will be reopened in this city, restoring the reputation of being a large industrial city. He emphasized that one of Vardan Ghukasyan’s plans is job creation and housing construction.
The speaker, however, did not miss the opportunity to mention that Nikol Pashinyan’s government did not build any apartments in Gyumri during 8 years.
“I want to give a vivid example, the foreign debt has increased by 8 billion drams, 1 percent of 8 billion drams is 80 million dollars, if 1 percent of the foreign debt was directed to housing construction in Gyumri city, a disaster zone, then that problem would have been completely eliminated, but unfortunately, at the moment, we have 991 homeless people affected by the disaster zone, and 240 or more people have applied to the Ministry of Urban Development to include them as well. in the list of homelessness, and we also know that there are 2,500 shacks with shack dwellers,” said Avetis Arakelyan.
