The National Superintendency of Higher University Education (Sunedu) filed a request for an amparo action before the Sixth Constitutional Court with the objective of avoiding the removal of the acting superintendent, Vicente Espinoza Santillán, officially appointed by the institution.
This measure seeks, according to the entity, to protect authority and autonomy in the event of an alleged attempted violation by the Ministry of Education (Minedu).
The action by Sunedu was announced through an official statement, published on June 13, in which it was stated that these judicial actions were presented “against the resolutions of the Minedu that seek to remove Vicente Espinoza Santillán, acting superintendent, from his position; and appoint a new counselor, violating the law and the institutional internal regulations.”

Likewise, Sunedu indicated that its mission is not to favor any university or power group, but to “guarantee that all existing and new universities meet basic quality conditions for the benefit of students and their families.”
The institution thanked the samples of support received and the statements of various actors linked to the academy and university associations, both public and private.
