Qamutit SAR Group has entered into a 3-year sponsorship agreement with Bankivik, which will strengthen the group’s rescue work.
Qamutit SAR Group has recently played a key role in two rescue operations in connection with avalanche accidents at Nuuk with snowmobiles.
Now the rescue group gets a financial helping hand in the form of a sponsorship from Bankivik.
In a press release, the group explains that the sponsorship means that the Qamutit SAR Group receives an amount for the purchase of safety and rescue equipment every year for three years, as well as the opportunity to participate in courses that strengthen the group’s skills in Search and Rescue (SAR) – especially in the winter.
“This agreement gives us the opportunity to develop our skills and ensure that we have the necessary equipment to help when it really matters. It is an important support for our volunteer work,” says Lars Borris Pedersen, Team Leader in the Qamutit SAR Group.
The Qamutit SAR Group is a voluntary and unpaid organization that assists the Greenland Police, Fire Service and Arctic Command when necessary, and the group therefore has special competences within, among other things, avalanche rescue.
The group also works actively with prevention through avalanche courses.
“We are proud to support Qamutit SAR Group and their important efforts. Their work contributes directly to increased safety and security in Greenland, and we want to support that,” says Pia Holm Jensen, private customer director at Bankivik.
