KUWAIT CITY, Jun 12: The Kuwaiti authorities have arrested a five-member criminal gang of Bangladeshi nationals involved in forging and illegally distributing government stamps, the Ministry of Interior said.
According to the Ministry, the arrests were carried out by the Residence Affairs Investigation Department under the Criminal Security Sector following extensive investigations and intelligence gathering. The suspects were found to be producing counterfeit government stamps and selling them to expatriates and some companies at prices below their official value in order to generate illegal profits.
Investigations revealed that the group distributed forged stamps both inside and outside hospitals, targeting documents requiring official stamp verification. The counterfeit stamps were reportedly in denominations of 5 and 10 dinars.
During the operation, authorities seized equipment used in the forgery process, including a laptop, a printer, and stamp rolls. Investigators also found that the suspects had stolen official stamp paper rolls from a hospital and repurposed them for illegal duplication activities.
Legal proceedings have been initiated, and the suspects along with the seized materials have been referred to the competent authorities for further action.
The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing security campaigns aimed at combating fraud and protecting public funds, warning that strict legal measures will be taken against anyone involved in forgery or tampering with official documents.
