This Friday, June 12, the National Team held its last training session on Portuguese soil before leaving for the United States, where it will compete in the 2026 World Cup. The session took place at Cidade do Futebol, in Oeiras, and included all the players called up by Roberto Martínez, with no physical limitations or last-minute absences.
The national coach had the entire group available, entering the final stretch of preparation with Portugal at full strength for the start of the competition.
Before work began, players, technical staff and the rest of the structure of the Portuguese Football Federation observed a minute of silence in honor of the fan who died before the friendly match against Nigeria, held in Leiria.
The moment of tribute marked the last training session on national territory before traveling to the United States.
The Portuguese delegation heads to Humberto Delgado Airport, in Lisbon, this afternoon, leaving at 3:05 pm towards Palm Beach, the location chosen to serve as the team’s headquarters during the group stage of the tournament.
Palm Beach will be the base of the National Team during its participation in the initial phase of the World Cup.
The 2026 World Cup kicked off on Thursday and runs until July 19, being organized by the United States, Mexico and Canada. Portugal is part of Group K and makes its debut against the Democratic Republic of Congo, on June 17, in Houston, in a match scheduled for 6pm (mainland Portuguese time).
There will be clashes against newcomers Uzbekistan, on June 23rd, again in Houston and at the same time, before the end of the group stage against Colombia, in Miami, in a match scheduled for 00:30 on June 28th, in mainland Portugal.
With a complete squad and no apparent physical problems, Portugal begins their journey to the World Cup with renewed ambition and the expectation of discussing the top places in the competition.
