MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) – Maksim Lysenko, whom the head of state appointed Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Minister, has spoken about the key tasks facing the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry, BelTA has learned.
“As the president said, this is one of the most important ministries, but results of its work are not yet visible. Therefore, the new minister needs to go and put things right. No one has relieved us of the obligation to tidy up and organize things,” Maksim Lysenko emphasized. “Changes are currently being introduced to a number of statutory and regulatory enactments in order to make the coordination of efforts to put things right clearer. We will work towards that as well.”
Maksim Lysenko named geological exploration as one of the important areas of work. The new head of the ministry assured that work on the extraction of oil and other natural resources will continue at an even faster pace.
Among the tasks to be addressed by the ministry are matters relating to waste management. “We need to work as much as possible with legal persons and the general public in order to utilize secondary material resources and recycle production waste. For instance, recycling enterprises should approach their work more responsibly,” Maksim Lysenko stressed. “We may need to get together with the Housing and Utilities Ministry and think about a waste management strategy. It needs to change a bit, and we are working towards it.”
The new minister also noted that the instructions included studying the matter of merging the State Inspectorate for Fauna and Flora Protection under the President with the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry.
