The head of the Romanian Defense Ministry, Radu Miruce, said that the naval drone that exploded in the port of Constanța had been observed since 6:00 a.m., but the message from the Ukrainian authorities about the loss of control of the four drones was not received until around 10:00 a.m.
“European Truth” reports about this Digi24.
According to Miruce, the Romanian services had very little time to prevent more damage from the drone explosion.
“A drone was seen in the civilian port this morning, around 6:00, 6:00 and a little later. Around 10:00, the Ukrainian authorities informed the Romanian authorities that they had lost control of four drones and that in a very short time the drone, which is in the civilian port of Constanţa, would explode, which gave us 10, 15 minutes before the teams were withdrawn from the area to avoid causing more damages and, first of all, not to endanger the lives of members of teams from various departments that arrived at the scene and conducted an examination of the relevant territory,” said Acting the minister
To the question about the discrepancy between the moment of losing control over the drones and the message sent to Romania, in view of the statements of the Ukrainian side that it informed in advance Romanian authorities, the head of the Ministry of Defense said that he discussed it directly with his Ukrainian counterpart.
“When we received this message from the Ukrainian authorities, it was also the reason why I called the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, telling him very frankly that I expect that when control is lost, he will inform us,” said Acting. the minister
“I think it’s mutually respectful that when an event like this happens in a country at war like Ukraine, they inform us as soon as possible. Romania detected, saw this drone this morning at 6:00 a.m. The authorities started analyzing to find out what it was. The confirmation came around 10:00 a.m. If they found out then, I don’t understand why the Ukrainian authorities informed us about 10:00, not at 6:00 or 4:05, when they already knew about it,” Miruce added.
We will remind, on the morning of June 5, people were evacuated from the port of Constanta in Romania after the explosion of a marine drone there. As a result of the incident, no one was injured.
The Romanian Ministry of Defense indicated that maritime drones of this type were used during the Russian-Ukrainian war.
The Naval Forces of Ukraine later reported that while performing tasks in the Black Sea operational zone, one of the unmanned naval boats of the Navy was under the influence of the enemy’s electronic warfare equipment lost control and ended up near the coast of Romania.
