The Latin American and National Youth Ministry establishes that Youth Easter be celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Easter, known as Good Shepherd Sunday. In 2026 it will be Sunday, April 26 and different groups in the country will have activities that day or on nearby dates.
Carlos Quiroa, executive secretary of the Archdiocesan Youth Ministry, He comments that they will celebrate this day in front of the Metropolitan Cathedral on Sunday the 26th.
The activity will begin at approximately 2 p.m. More than 2 thousand people are expected to participate. There will be, in addition to mass and Holy Hour, a Hakuna concert and the prayer of the via lucis.
The reading for that day is based on the Gospel of Saint John 10, from 1 to 10. It says: “Truly I say to you, whoever does not enter the sheepfold by the door, but climbs in by another way, is a thief and a robber. But he who enters by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; he calls his sheep by name and leads them out. When he brings out all his own, “He goes before them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. But they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of strangers.”
The text continues: “Jesus spoke to them by means of this comparison (illustration), but they did not understand what he was saying to them. Then Jesus said to them again: “Truly I say to you, I am the gate of the sheep. All those who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the door; If anyone enters through me, he will be saved; and he will go in and out and find pasture. The thief only comes to steal, kill and destroy. “I have come so that they may have life and so that they may have it in abundance.”
