The Minister of the Interior, John Reimbergspoke about the security cooperation agreement between Ecuador and the United States, after the signing of a memorandum that will allow the exchange of information to confront transnational crime.
Through your account at social networkthe official pointed out that the relationship between both countries is based on trust, mutual respect and shared objectives, which, according to him, allows obtaining results on security and development issues in the region.
“The bilateral relationship Ecuador and the United States Today is a clear example of how international cooperation (…) generates concrete results for security,” published the minister, who also linked this process to the president’s management. Details and scope of the memorandum
Reimberg explained that the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of the Interior and the Office of Homeland Security Investigations of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service, with the objective of exchanging information in a secure and timely manner.
This agreement includes technical assistance, training and coaching for the National Policein order to strengthen research related to crimes that operate internationally.
The chancellor was present during the signing of the document. Gabriela Sommerfeld and the general commander of the National Police, Pablo Davilawho participated in the official event.
National security context
This agreement is added to other actions of the Government regarding securityin a context in which measures such as the curfew in several provinces of the country, as part of the strategy to contain crimes. (YO)
