Former Minister of Labor Petre Florin Manole (P.S.D) assures that no income will decrease through the new one law of payroll, to which a milestone is linked PNRR important. He explained that any salary increase after the adoption will be done only based on the available budget. “In the end, we will stretch as much as we can, as the popular saying goes, we cannot spend more money than we have and we will respect this principle,” explained Manole on Monday, May 25.

The salary law, which must be adopted by the end of June in order not to risk the loss of European funds, practically reduces the part of increases in income, without affecting the final salary.

“There is a draft, the one I left in the Ministry of Labour, we will see what the possible changes are, but there is a draft that has some essential milestones. First of all, no income decreases, it is a principle agreed by the protocol with the Presidency. Secondly, a lot of increases disappear and the general envelope, because in the end the name of the increases is less important, it is important that the increase envelope decreases, from 30% to 20% per orderer of credits”, said Petre Florin Manole to RFI.

The amount available for wage increases is 8 billion lei, he confirmed.

“The increase envelope agreed with the Ministry of Finance and the European Commission and which also respects Romania’s commitments regarding the deficit and the share of public expenditure with salaries in total public expenditure, the envelope is eight billion, a rather modest envelope, but it is as much as the Romanian state can afford at this moment (…) In the end, we will stretch as far as we can, as the popular saying goes, we cannot spend more money than we have and we will respect this principle”, he added the former Minister of Labor.

However, Petre Florin Manole believes that the proposals of the unions must be implemented, depending on the available budget.

“It is also the task of the current minister and the task of the Government in the coming days, maybe weeks of debate, to find some solutions to integrate those of AMENDMENTS which should be integrated, but with maximum caution in relation to the available budget, which we have no way of exceeding”, emphasized the former Minister of Labor.
